Colonel K S Sheoran was commissioned into the Kumaon Regiment in 1980. His professional education included the National Defence Academy and Staff College, Camberley. His service included the Indian Peace Keeping Force in Sri Lanka, operations in Jammu and Kashmir and the northeast, instruction at the Indian Military Academy, staff work at the Army War College and Military Operations Directorate, and the United Nations Observer Mission in Sierra Leone.
